Little Havana

Alas, this restaurant has been CLOSED!

Little Havana is a Cuban restaurant located in one of the many infamous 'restaurant rows' of New York City- Cornelia Street. It also stands amongst some heavyweights of the NY food and wine industry, Po- an Italian restaurant started and owned by Mario Batali in the 1990's, the infamous Pearl Oyster Bar, Le Gigot, Palma, Home and the Cornelia Street Cafe.

Lidia Sharpe, the owner and Chef of the diminutively sized Little Havana arrived in the US during the exodus of the Cuban intelligencia in the 1960's with her husband and two children. Now in her 70's, she has many fond memories of her country but acknowledges that she will never be able to return. The restaurant has become an extension of these memories and is dedicated to the delicious meals she grew up with on the farm she shared with her family. Simple and traditional Cuban food is a staple at Little Havana with its 10 tables, ceviche, ropa vieja, arroz con frigoles, 2 lovely waitresses, a phenomenal sous chef called Raul and a colorful mural extending over an entire wall of the restaurant.

  1. This is my favorite Cuban restaurant in New York. The Sangria is delicious and the Ropa Vieja is the best. Sofia
